Chelsie Moak (she/her)

Counseling Student Intern

What I enjoy most about the mental health field is creating spaces where people can feel safe enough to see themselves as already whole. Yes, we’re healing, but we’re also already whole. My path into social work started with my own journey as both a parent and a leader, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without my therapist, so shout out to her.

As a trauma survivor, and through my work with youth and educators impacted by trauma, I’ve learned how essential community is to healing. That understanding guides my approach: we heal best when we are connected, supported, and reminded that we don’t have to do this alone.

Highlighting one of my specialties:

Care for the Caregiver

Many of us spend our lives caring for others.

We are parents, educators, healthcare workers, therapists, social workers, community leaders, and helping professionals. We hold space for others' grief, advocate for their needs, manage crises, and carry responsibilities that often go unseen. While this work can be deeply meaningful, it can also come at a cost.

Over time, caregivers may experience burnout, compassion fatigue, chronic stress, grief, anxiety, isolation, or a growing sense of disconnection from themselves. We become skilled at tending to everyone else's needs while struggling to recognize our own.

My work is rooted in supporting those who care for others.

Through individual and group therapy, I offer a grounded and compassionate space to pause, reflect, and tend to the emotional realities of caregiving, service, leadership, and parenthood. Together, we explore the challenges and strengths that emerge in these roles while cultivating greater self-awareness, self-compassion, resilience, and connection.

Areas of focus may include:

  • Caregiver burnout and compassion fatigue

  • Vicarious trauma and chronic stress

  • Grief, loss, and ambiguous grief

  • Life transitions and identity shifts

  • Anxiety and emotional wellbeing

  • Relationships and boundaries

  • Meaning, purpose, and sustainable care

My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, relational, and strengths-based. I integrate mindfulness, somatic awareness, cognitive behavioral approaches, motivational interviewing, and restorative practices to support healing and growth.

Whether you are navigating the demands of caregiving, experiencing a season of transition, or longing for a space where you can bring your full humanity, therapy can offer a place to slow down, reconnect, and remember that your wellbeing matters too.

As a therapist at Whole Soul Counseling, I am grateful to practice within a supportive clinical community that values whole-person healing, relationship, and authentic care.
