Associate Mental Health Therapist (Associate Professional Clinical Counselor)
As an Asian-American male of mixed heritage some of the issues that stand out to me in therapy are related to cultural values, perceptions, identity, spirituality and belief systems. Prior to working as a therapist, I worked for several years with the disability population, particularly those with developmental disorders and other neurodivergent groups. My desire to see others live a successful life, defined in their own way, led me to complete my master’s in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling. My education and training allow me to address and treat the psychological aspects of our lives and consider ways we can improve functioning to increase our interaction with our environment.
In therapy you choose what you want to talk about and the direction you want to go. My role is that of a listener, supporter, and facilitator of growth. I can provide insight into what troubles you, along with the tools to maintain lasting change. I believe a holistic approach that recognizes the mind, body, and spiritual dimensions of the person is most effective. Therapy does not require you to try anything I might encourage. This is your time to explore what works for you and I am here for it.
If you don’t have it figured out, then you’re in the right place. A lot of the inner conflict we experience corresponds with the degree to which we are aware or unaware of the deeper parts of ourselves. I believe that everyone in their authenticity is whole, and the challenge of life is to connect with your wholeness. Our lives entail many hardships that may result in persistent feelings of distress, restlessness, or even confusion. I believe that life requires us to ‘hold’ the tension, or reconcile inner and outer conflicts, in a manner that pushes us forward in life. Therapy is the process of learning how to integrate the different parts of ourselves – our emotions, ideas, beliefs, identities, into a healthy unified whole experience. In other words, we can learn to live authentically when we stop denying, suppressing, or rejecting any part of ourselves.
Deciding on a therapist takes time and consideration. If you would like to continue your journey with me, I would be glad to walk along your side. Together we can develop a therapeutic relationship that will serve your growth and healing towards wholeness.Â
